Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards

Welcome & Introduction

Welcome to the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards at Shaw University. We are dedicated to fostering a campus environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and personally. Our office is responsible for administering a fair and equitable disciplinary process that upholds community and behavioral standards, as outlined in the Shaw University Student Code of Conduct. The Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards operates not only in accordance with university policies but also local, state, and national laws pertaining to individual violations. Our office maintains confidentiality in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), while also complying with the reporting requirements outlined in the Clery Act and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.

We invite you to explore our website to learn more about our services, resources, and community standards. Together, we can create a campus environment where all students feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Partnerships & Adjudication

In partnership with the entire campus community, Judicial Services adjudicates student violations, receiving referrals from various sources including Campus Police and Security, student reports, academic units, and other campus entities. Off-campus incidents are handled according to university policy, often initiated through Campus Police and Security.

Support Resources

In addition to our commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful campus community, we also recognize the importance of supporting students in times of need. That’s why we offer resources such as the student pantry and student emergency funds. The student pantry initiative ensures that no student goes hungry by providing access to essential food items, while our student emergency funds offer assistance to students facing unexpected financial hardships. These resources are just one way we strive to support the holistic well-being of our students.
