Shaw University enters 2024 positioned for increased impact

RALEIGH — Shaw University’s extended campus in Research Triangle Park has the state’s oldest historically Black institution of higher learning poised to develop even more students and further strengthen what the school has to offer.

The accommodations within the Frontier RTP 800 Building include private offices and an administrative area dedicated to Shaw University, as well as shared areas comprising classrooms, state-of-the-art conference rooms, a collaborative co-working space, plus additional accommodations for events.

The dedicated RTP space — formalized in October 2023 through a partnership with Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina — will facilitate meetings with donors and corporate partners. Career prospects for students will get a lift when the space is leveraged to engage corporate partners for internships and employment opportunities. The classroom areas enhance Shaw University’s academic capacity by providing spaces to obtain certifications and for adult-education classes.

“With one very efficient move we’ve addressed institutional advancement, student affairs and academics. We’ve enhanced the student experience,” Shaw University President Paulette Dillard said. “Now that Shaw University is at the front door for opportunities with cutting-edge RTP companies, our students are better positioned to enter the pipeline of diverse talent.”
