Welcome from the Vice President

I want to take a moment to welcome you to Bear Country! Our Shaw Bears thrive within a culture of tried-and-true dedication and determination for success. If you have had the opportunity to visit and speak with our faculty, staff or students, then you have most likely witnessed their resilience firsthand.

As a new student, not only will you bring to Shaw your individual talents and strengths, but you will be given opportunities to grow and experience a dynamic academic support system. You will develop professionally, beginning your freshmen year throughout your matriculation and until the day you walk across that stage as a graduate of Shaw University. In Academic Affairs, we believe in team building, our students benefit from peer learners, attentive staff and mentoring faculty. Your courses will allow you to expand your knowledge in the field, but also gain experience through practice. Many of our students have had opportunities to perform within their field and find mentors within the community. ‘

New faculty will find a home away from home and a team of colleagues who will cheer you on in all your endeavors. Our faculty are dedicated to teaching young minds and encouraging seasoned minds. Many of our faculty also find opportunities to work alongside their students with field specific research and projects.

The support staff at Shaw University work as an adhesive team to combine all the great works of our students and faculty. Often times, our staff can be found nearby learning, experiencing, directing and producing behind the scenes. The staff at Shaw University help to ensure your needs are met academically, professionally and personally.
