Major In Biology, B.S.

The Bachelor of Science degree in biology will prepare you for a wide range of careers, from medical school and nursing to biotech and scientific research in everything ranging from pharmaceutical science to ecology. Students will engage in the discovery of a broad range of topics, in the classroom, the lab and the field.

Degree Requirements

The Biology Major is a structured curriculum that allows students to enroll in a variety of courses emphasizing specific areas of life sciences. All biology lectures and labs have separate credit hours and grades. Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in all biology courses and a satisfactory grade in all other courses required for the major.

General Education Core Requirements in areas ranging from African American History and Public Speaking to Web Page Design and Psychology. General education courses give you a strong foundation for any career.

Major Program Requirements will consist of you completing 63 credit hours specific to the discipline, which include courses such as Genetics, Ecology, and Biochemistry. A candidate for the Bachelor of Science degree in Biology must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours.
